What's good everybody?! Halloween. Why do we only do it once a year?--seems like we should get that crazy more than once a year--i remember when i first started going out to clubs and you would ALWAYS see people dressed up like Halloween even if it was like March....don't really see too much of that anymore.
Well, I had a great time spinning for costumed freaks all weekend. Cuban Pete's in NJ had a DOPE soundsystem, light show and decorations as well as a special surprise performance by Team Embassador. Plenty of great costumes...
The staff @ Underbar had some INCREDIBLE costumes...Hyla as a fallen angel--Melissa as Snow White--Heather as the evil Queen from Snow White--Alex as Lara Croft--Rebecca as Alice In Wonderland--Mya as 'Blonde' Shirley Sherlock Holmes--!!!!!!!!!!!
Monday I put on my Radioactive Man(The Simpsons)suit and headed over to Lotus with my friends Karolina(Eve) and Jenn(Lara Croft) to find DJ Small Change spinning in the basement--!!!!!!! Met up with my buddy DJ JMC with his cousin Jen dressed as Duff from Guns'n Roses and Joanie from Happy Days...
Gotta send a big shout to Artie A over @ Wenner Media for having play the US Weekly party last night at The Altman Bldg. The event was to celebrate the magazines release of their new book of celebrity photos "Inside Hollywood". Thanks for havin' me spin!

What's good everybody? BIG UP to World Series Champs the White Sox!!! I know all my family and friends out in Chi-Town were dancing in the streets last night...
Doing something a little different to celebrate Halloween this Friday. Cuban Pete's is a brand new restaurant out in Montclair, NJ and my boys Daryl & Kevin Kingston have one HELL of a party planned! Costumes, Food, Lights, OPEN BAR and not one. Not two, but 3 kick-ass djs!!! Daryl Kingston(Lana, Hoboken) and Carlos Realm will be building it up with the house and club beats while JVC tears it down with the hip hop, R&B, reggae & reggaeton. Get a costume and be there!!!
On Monday--Halloween--after the parade in downtown Manhattan we can all head uptown to The Whiskey for their costume party. I'm pretty sure admission is free with a costume, $10 w/o.

What's good everybody?! Dippin out of Underbar again this week to dj a wedding in Brooklyn.
Lana in Hoboken last week was CrAzY!!!!! I got in there around 12:30 and the two dance floors were JUMPING. Daryl K put me on the decks right away and let me rip it for an hour--AWESOME crowd!!!--every song I dropped had'em yelling and screaming!!!! Thanks Daryl!
Tues at The Whiskey was cool in a different way this week. Got to Meet Aries Spears from the cast of Mad TV. A mad cool guy(no pun intended) who put me and some of the security staff on the list for his Just For Laughs show Wed night @ Irving Plaza. Aries Spears, Bill Burr from Dave Chapelle Show, Tom Papa and John Moloney had us all ROLLING in the aisles! Really funny stuff!

Monday night DJ JVC is the SOLE opening act--tearing LA up NYC style for nearly 3 hours while a special guest is waited on....Later House of Blues goes completely ballistic when The Doggfather himself, Snoop Doggy Dogg comes out onstage to spit his part on "I Can Change"...the band then rips into their own version of "Drop It Like It's Hot".
TOTALLY BANANAS!!!....ON A MONDAY NIGHT!!!!
....and that was just the shows...
Other Tinsel Town moments included late night steak frites at The Standard with Eddie Murphy & his entourage.......OK! So he was 2 tables away!...drinking at the Foundation Room bar(AWESOME spot inside HOB) with Reggie & Josh & Chris from John Legend's band & with part of the cast of Reno 911....staying @ The Grafton Hotel & chillin' by the pool with hot chicks in bikinis....
Gotta send BIG THANKS out to Sam & Dayana K, Brian B and Cassandra S for the great east/west/east transplant hospitality--Japanese BBQ, The Brig (in Venice?), Inn-N-Out Burger(a late night mustANDbetter than Fatburger), lunch @ The Promenade in Santa Monica and surfing in Malibu!!! You guys just might convince me to move there too!!!

Technically I've been opening for John all summer. My man Reggie G--big, BIG PROPS to Reg!!!-- is the soundman for the tour this summer and has been spinning my mix cds before a LOT of the shows around the country and in Europe. So if you've been to a JL show this summer and heard my cd id drop--'you are listening to the sounds of....' you heard right--that's my disc playin'.
Anyway, that's why I've been missing in virtual action and if you've called me lately I probably haven't answered coz I've been souping up my hard drive with enough tunes to spin with Serato out west--that's right --only Serato control wax are going out to Cali with me. I'm scared too...but hey, Jazzy Jeff, Cut Chemist, Luke Slater and Ritchie Hawtin have been rockin' it on the road like that for more than a minute....JVC is next...

I'm late this week b/c I have made/been making an investment in my dj future. I got this new software they lets you play your mp3/iTunes/aiff or whatever music files through your computer onto the turntables and allows you to manipulate them the same way you would a vinyl record...some of you already know what I'm talking about...for the rest of you who are saying 'What the...#@$%!?' all you really need to know is that soon I'll be showing up to my gigs with little more than a laptop, but I'll still be rocking the decks--and I'm NOT talking about CDs!!!
But for now I am in uploading/downloading ---purgatory. It's a lot of work but it's forcing me to sit down and really listen to a lot of records I haven't in awhile and also making me learn more about using this fancy schmancy computer I've got.
To all you fellow vinyl jocks....Serato is really freakin' cool!

What's good fam & friends? JVC back with the weekly check-in. A little late this week I know but you know...'summertime & the livin' is easy'...actually, this week started off kinda hectic (remember chill rob g and snap! 'the power'LOL!). Tuesday was this crazy party for Pontiac. Jet--the rock band--did a live show outside in Times Sq and an acoustic set inside The Whiskey(!) Lots of celebs like Danny Masterson (That 70s Show) and Lennox Lewis and whole bunch of other people I recognized but don't know their names. lots of beautiful people and plasma tv screens and a 'live' hook-up to the Jimmy Kimmel Show.

Went to the 'white' party the other night @ Duvet. I like what they've done with the old Centro-Fly space even if it is a rip-off of Bed in Miami. DJ upstairs was pretty good. the guy in the pirate hat downstairs--what's his name?--was ok. Big up to Charles for hooking up the guest list.
So if you're going to Great Adventure this summer you've gotta go through the Safari. My friend Melissa and I went last week and it was a BLAST!!! A camel tried to make out with me and almost ate my seatbelt. We had giraffes and llamas eating bread out of our hands...I turned whiter than a fresh pair of Nikes on the Batman ride. The new roller coaster is currently closed and the line for Superman was insane but it was all really good fun!!

Disappearing Act 4/26/05 What's really good everybody? DJ JVC is back from the semi-regular disappearing act that I pull everytime I get a last minute chance to go snowboarding. My last hurrah for the 04-05 season was in Lake Tahoe at Squaw Valley. If you ride or ski I think a trip out there during the regular part of the season is a MUST. SICK mountain fun all day and super delicious wine & food all night!!!
